Take The Ben Rush PTA Survey

Ben Rush PTA is striving to better understand the needs of our Ben Rush community — and that includes YOU! We’d appreciate it if you’d take 5-10 minutes to fill out our brief survey, available at:

To provide an extra incentive, your survey response automatically enters you into a weekly raffle for a free slice of pizza at Pagliacci’s, or the grand prize of one of two $25 gift cards to Snapdoodle Toys, just in time for the holidays. (If you prefer, your survey responses can remain anonymous, but you will be ineligible for the raffles.)

The survey will close on Monday, December 17. The sooner you respond, the more chances you’ll have to win!

Thanks in advance for your time.

Letter From Your President

Dear Ben Rush Families,

It’s hard to believe that fall has already officially arrived and another school year has begun. As your president of the Ben Rush PTA and long-time Ben Rush parent, I am thrilled to welcome all new and returning Ben Rush students and families!  Your Ben Rush PTA has been busy planning for the new school year, and we are excited to work together with you to make this year fun, memorable and successful for all of our precious students.  We hope you will take advantage of the wide variety of programs, classes, events, and activities the PTA offers.  It’s the support of all the families that helps make our Ben Rush community so special and unique, so thank you!  Here’s how you can help this school year:

1. JOIN the PTA – Your membership benefits your child and also helps our school. Please fill out the membership form coming   home on Wednesday September 13th   and return by Sept. 29 or register securely online.  You can also securely enter information online for our Student Directory.

2. SHOP! Be a Smart Shopper. When you visit   Amazon, Target and Everything Party, a portion of your purchase comes back to Ben Rush and helps support our school. Visit our website for details.

3. PARTICIPATE with the PTA   – You’ll have fun, make friends, and make your kids proud. Volunteer opportunities are plenty, and range from once-a-year small opportunities to board positions such as Vice President, Fundraising Chair and Special Events Coordinator; please contact me for more for more information.  You can also look for opportunities to be listed throughout the year in Cheetah Chat and the PTA website. Also attend PTA-sponsored events. Mark your calendar for the socials, family fun nights, and after-school enrichment classes that we arrange.

What   we provide: Your tax deductible donations are what make possible activities and programs that the district and state budgets can’t provide. Below are just a few of the social, educational and health related programs the Ben Rush PTA organizes and funds each year.  With your support these programs and more will continue:

Health Screenings * Passport Club * Science Fair * Robotics Club * International Night * Pottery Night * Teacher Appreciation Functions * Yearbook * Nature   Vision * Technology Club* Running Club * Young Author’s Day * Art Programs *   IXL Math * Classroom Materials * Transportation For Field Trips * Classroom   Representatives * Library Volunteers * Memorial Courtyard Bricks *   Complimentary Student Directory * Ice Cream Social *PTA donations also paid   for much of the playground play equipment behind the school

URGENT Need For Afterschool Class Coordinator

volunteerBen Rush is desperately in need of a new afterschool class coordinator. These classes include running club, badminton, choir, programming, etc. Our current coordinator will not be able to set up classes for the next session, and we need someone new to step in to fill her role immediately. She will help train the new coordinator to help ease the transition.

This is a big job, with a fairly large time commitment. If two or three people would be willing to take on the role, it would make for a much smaller workload.

If we cannot find a new coordinator, it is possible that the PTA will not be able to continue offering these classes in the future.

Want to learn more about this role? Lake Washington PTA is holding a brown bag lunch on “Running Great After School Activities: The Do’s, The Don’ts, And Everything In Between.” It is on Thursday, November 17 from 12-1pm in the LWSD Resource Center. See this flyer for more details.

Please email if you are interested in helping!
