The 5th grade classes at Ben Rush will be hosting a clothing drive from April 11th to April 25th to raise money for camp. Bins will be placed outside the school in our parking lot to collect donations.
We will be collecting items like used clothing, shoes/boots, linens bedding, towels, etc. They will even accept damaged textiles or single shoes!
This year, we have partnered with green company USAgain to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment by collecting reusable clothing and shoes in an effort to conserve resources, fight climate change and offer affordable clothing to people worldwide. There’s Still Time To Register For International Night

We still have several spots available for display tables and for performances on the Pods Stages, as well as a few spaces left on the Main Stage.

The deadline for registration is this Wednesday, April 18th.

Ben Rush celebrates International Night each year to honor the international and regional diversity of our school community. It’s a feast for the eyes, a journey around the world. All families are invited to attend this free event.

If you would like to offer a performance, a display table, or bring a food to share, please use the form links below to register and request a space. Please note that all main stage performances are limited to 3 minutes in order to accommodate as many students as possible. This year we are also offering longer 15 minute presentations in the first and second grade pods and have also added some 5 minute performances; this is a great opportunity to have a fashion show, teach a group dance lesson or maybe put on a puppet show. We encourage students and families to collaborate on performances and display tables as well!

The details:

You may participate actively by helping to organize this event (please email specialevents@benrushpta.org) or contribute a display, food or performance – please use the sign up links below. The last day to sign up is Wednesday, April 18th. You are also welcome to just come by and enjoy the show!

International Night is not possible without a large number of dedicated volunteers. In order to ensure a good experience for everyone, all performing groups are required to commit to a volunteer role. There are a number of opportunities available, and we will fully support you in your role. The time commitment on International Night will be limited to 30-45 minutes.

  1. Display Table and/or food– We invite families to set up a table displaying items from their country (toys, books, food, clothes, posters, pictures, slideshows, or arts and crafts). You may also offer food samples, craft activities or games. Your ideas spark the success of this event. If you don’t set up a cultural display, but you plan to bring a dish to share, we’ll have the food table set up where your dish can go. If you’d like to work with another family to set up a display table showcasing your country, there is a space on the sign up form to indicate that. This is a great way to get to know other Ben Rush families you might not already know. Sign up here to request a display table space, or to offer a food to share.
  2. Performance – If you would like to sing, dance or play a musical instrument from your country of choice, the Main Stage is the place for you. Performances on the Main Stage are limited to 3 minutes to allow time for as many participants as possible. The Pods stages will be set up for longer, more interactive Presentations, with either 5 or 15 minute timeslots. Sign up here to request a performance or presentation slot
  3. Raffle Basket-This year we are also having a fundraising raffle. If you’d like a chance to share a bit of your culture and help the PTSA raise funds to support all Ben Rush students you can sign up to bring a basket filled with $25-$50 of goodies representing your country of choice to be raffled off at International Night. Sign up here to provide a basket for the fundraising raffle.
