There will be new material given to all of the guitar students. FRIDAYS

SPANISH

At Sponge, we see language as a passport to global citizenship. Students learn to see the world through a different lens while acquiring language skills and the confidence to use them.

Young learners are especially primed for language learning – research shows that students are 70% more likely to gain fluency when they begin in elementary school or younger. Classes will be immersion based, and taught by native speaker using games, art, drama and movement to help children build language skills! We believe the best way to learn a language is to be immersed in it and having fun!

We welcome both continuing students and new students, because our curriculum is theme based, and this session will be a different theme than fall. We also have different key phrases each class.

HEALTHY HANDS COOKING CLASS!

NourishME! cooking is offering the Healthy Hands Core Cooking Program for grades K-5. We hope your young chef can join this fantastic 9-week program that will lay the foundation for healthful eating and kitchen confidence in a fun and hands-on format. Your child will become familiar with common kitchen appliances, basic kitchen and knife (child-safe) safety, creating a balanced plate, and learning how to be more self-sufficient in the kitchen.

Children will work in groups and/or individually to create 1-2 recipes per class. Over the course of nine weeks we will cover making healthful snacks, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. A portion of each class is dedicated to nutrition education. The remaining time is dedicated to cooking and cleanup. All fruits, veggies and dairy are organic whenever possible. We do not use peanuts or tree nuts in this class, substituting with sunflower seed butter and pumpkin seeds.

We do often use dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt, butter), eggs, and wheat. Meat is always optional. Some substitutions may be made, but I may ask you to provide a special ingredient if your child needs it. Students are encouraged to bring leftovers home to share and are never forced to eat anything.

If your child has severe or life-threatening food allergies, please contact me at erikaspeirs@hotmail.com prior to registering. Parents/legal guardians will be required to sign the Healthy Hands Cooking Allergy Disclosure/Release of Liability Waiver prior to the first class.
