|2018 Ben Rush Read-A-Thon
THANK YOU to everyone that participated in the Read-A-Thon (Ben Rush PTA’s Major Fundraiser)!
For 2018 we raised $28.8K ($7.4K more than last year), and had 42% student participation (7% up from last year).
We will announce the winners of the Fundraising Prizes on Monday morning – individual fundraising prizes will also be distributed on Monday.
Unfortunately this was only 64% of the $45K Fundraising Goal, and over 360 Ben Rush students did not participate in fundraising ($0).
This means we have a budget gap/ shortage of about $16K in 2018.
The PTA will look to cut expenses if we cannot meet/exceed our fundraising goals
(as Ben Rush Student population grows, many types of variable expenses will also grow driven by the larger number of total students).
Fundraising or your donation is the only way the Ben Rush PTA can fund expenses, such as:
Teacher Classroom Grants, Field Trip Subsidies, Nature Vision, Toy Maker, Young Author’s Day, as well as social events like Ice Cream Social and International Night.
Your donation in the 1st half of the school year allows us to prioritize and budget expenses appropriately for the remaining year.

Our suggested donation amount is $125 per student.
We recognize not everyone is able to contribute at this level – we will make a cash/check donation box available at major PTA events.

Due to the fundraising results – it highlights there is a problem.
We will be releasing a PTA Survey in the next few weeks to help us determine how the PTA can better serve you and where to focus our energy on in the next half of the year – please be on the look out!
