Benjamin Rush PTA

PTA organizes before and after school enrichment program twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. We are thrilled to be able to drive this extracurricular program that offers additional academic, physical, and social development of our elementary students after school hours.

Important Info [Read Before Registering!] 

SESSION DATES 
  • Classes will have 9 or 10 sessions, starting the week of March 23 and ending the week of June 5, EXCEPT Beginner Choir, which starts March 17. 
 
PRICING
  • Due to changes in Washington State Law as of Oct 2025, afterschool programs are now required to charge retail tax. The prices listed are INCLUSIVE of all taxes. 
 
PARENT CHAPERONES NEEDED - FREE REGISTRATION FOR CHAPERONING THE CLASS ALL QUARTER!
  • Vendor-led classes must have a chaperone to run. Parent chaperones make our classes successful by tracking attendance and helping our students when needed. All chaperones must be LWSD approved volunteers (a simple background check) and PTA members. Volunteer to be a chaperone for the entire class (9-10 sessions) and your child can attend the class for free! Scroll below for classes with the green OPEN sign. How to sign up to chaperone: 
      1. Make sure you are a PTA member and LWSD volunteer (both are easy to do)
      2. Register your child for the class
      3. E-mail afterschool@benrushpta.org for the class you’d like to chaperone and the name of your student. 
      4. A refund will be issued once registration is confirmed

CLASS REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY

  • No refunds are allowed after the FIRST week of classes. If for whatever reason you need to cancel a class after the first class, you must email afterschool@benrushpta.org within the first week of class.
  • No refunds for class cancellations due to unexpected school closures (i.e. weather). 
PTA MEMBER DISCOUNT
  • PTA members who register early will get a $10 discount for each class ($5 discount for Choir). The prices listed below are for non-PTA members. PTA members should subtract $10 ($5 for Choir).
WARNING: CLASSES MAY CANCEL IF LOW ENROLLMENT
  • There are rare instances when classes may be cancelled if minimum enrollment numbers are not met. Those families will be notified via email and full refunds will be given if so.

Let your voice shine! ๐ŸŽถ Our Primary Choir (K-2) is the perfect place for young singers to discover the joy of music.  We'll explore fun songs, learn basic vocal techniques, and build confidence, all while preparing for a spectacular end-of-year performance!  Join us and let's make some beautiful music together!

Artists of the Northwest! - By CreArt Studios
Young artists will explore how colors mix, contrast, and express emotion through hands-on creations inspired by artists like Basquiat and Chagall, imaginative shadow rooms, graphic album covers, kite making, and Van Gogh–inspired printmaking. Using pastels, watercolor, clay, printmaking, collage, weaving and mixed media, students will build confidence while discovering how color transforms art and ideas.

Pickleball Club with Mrs. Scott and Ms. Holycross

Join us for an exciting After-School Pickleball Club, where 4th and 5th graders can learn and enjoy the fast-growing sport of pickleball! Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this club is a great way to develop skills, stay active, and have fun with friends. No equipment? No problem! Paddles and balls will be provided. Just wear comfortable clothes and sneakers, and get ready to have fun on the court!

For the experienced and more skilled players, we spend the practices helping them sure up their fundamentals and adding to their skill set.

Space Robotics - By Snapology

In this action-packed Snapology program, your child will build and program robots inspired by space travel - from androids to planetary systems. Using LEGO® bricks, electronics and laptops, students explore robotics, engineering, and astronomy while developing real-world tech and teamwork skills in a fun, collaborative environment.

What Kids Learn: Students explore robotics and sensors, build and refine machines using engineering design principles, and dive into space concepts like gravity and orbits. They develop foundational programming skills through drag-and-drop coding and strengthen teamwork through collaborative, hands-on challenges.

Jump Rope & Rhythm Fitness - By Dukane Studios

Get your kid's afternoon off to a great start with some music, jumping and fun! This is a high energy class and focuses on different stylized techniques, rhythm, and isolations. This class encourages students to engage in freestyle movement to help build style and confidence. Does your kid love sports? This class is a great addition to understanding coordination and agility that can help increase their sports performance too!

We bring the jump ropes, and your student keeps theirs at the end of the session!

COOLinary Cooking Club - By Sticky Fingers Cooking

It's THYME to TURNIP the BEET on what kids EAT! Our interactive classes make cooking fun and deliciously educational. Kids will enjoy tasty, healthy recipes while learning S.T.E.A.M., culture, language, geography and more! Led by experienced Chef Instructors, we ensure all allergies are accommodated, and recipes are always nut-free. Explore our weekly recipes and join us to WHIP up some culinary fun all year. Perfect for children of all ages!

ALL ALLERGIES ARE ACCOMMODATED and our recipes are always NUT FREE.

Parents who enroll kids in this class will receive a welcome email with a link to complete a waiver and access the recipes.

Ball Hockey - By McVander Hockey

No ice.  No skating.  Ball hockey is similar to ice hockey, but players wear tennis shoes and play on a hard surface using a ball instead of a puck.  It is a super-fun, fast-paced, team-oriented sport that emphasizes strategy, speed, and agility.  Your student will have a blast!

No experience required!  Through exciting games & challenges and friendly scrimmages, players develop confidence, coordination, and teamwork skills.  Our experienced coaches will guide them every step of the way, starting with basic hockey fundamentals like stickhandling, passing, shooting, and positioning.  We will make sure they learn the game of hockey the right way, in a supportive and fun environment.

All Levels Chess Club - By Grand Knights Chess Academy 

Our Chess Club (K-5) is the perfect place to discover the fun of this classic game or hone your skills and conquer the board! Whether you're looking to learn the basics, work on advanced techniques, or just enjoy some friendly competition, this club is your next move. We'll teach you the rules, strategies, and how to think ahead, so you can start playing like a pro. Join us and make your first move towards chess mastery! Students will be divided based on experience, so we encourage students of all levels to join us.

Badminton - With Mr. Overland and Mr. Wilson

Want to learn how to play the world’s fastest racket sport? Join Mr. Wilson and Mr. Overland as students learn how to serve, clear, drop, and smash. Additionally, students will learn sportsmanship, common badminton etiquette, and how to keep score. The class ends with a fun tournament!
